U.S. Department of the Interior Modernization
Project Overview
This Department of Interior (DOI) headquarters building project was a complex, multi-phased 16-year project to modernize 100 percent of the building’s 1.29 million square feet.
Details
Ennis Electric’s work included replacement of electrical infrastructure, telecommunications and fire alarm systems as well as the addition of an emergency power system, the restoration and replication of historic fixtures and the challenging incorporation of new electrical work into the existing historic building fabric.
The building was also 80 percent occupied by federal workers during the entire project, so the renovation plan had to be developed to not disrupt the building occupants.
