Dulles Corridor Metrorail, Phase II

Project Overview

The Silver Line, also known as the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project consists of 11 new stations which are being constructed in two phases. Phase 1 runs from East Falls Church with four stations in Tysons Corner and one Wiehle Avenue in Reston. Ennis Electric is the electrical contractor for Phase 2’s stations, bridges, and kiosks.  Phase 2 picks up at the Phase 1 terminus location, Wiehle-Reston East, and continues in the median of the Dulles Toll Road and the Dulles Access Highway with three stations, includes an aerial station at Dulles Airport and is further extended into Loudoun County with two more stops.

Details

This complex multi-site project has construction costs in excess of one billion dollars.  The work has the many unique challenges which face mass transportation projects such as performing construction in the highway median, working within an active airport setting, and the specialized materials necessary for exposed environments and public safety. Ennis Electric’s role in this design-build project included the electrical design-assist in addition to the electrical construction.
